Fishing

Papa (my dad) took Gabe and Zeb, my nephew, fishing. They had a great time and although they got a lot of nibbles, they didn't catch anything.

Gabe and Zeb are only three months different in age and they enjoy each other's company, usually spending a lot of time wrestling and playing some sport or other.

After fishing, Papa took the boys out to lunch and they met Uncle Walt there. It was a very full day.

Old-Fashioned Kids

The MOPS group at our church holds a semi-annual antique photo fundraiser. We picked the pictures out this week. I like how they came out.

Party and Sledding

Last Saturday, my brother Dave and SIL Sandi had a party at their house. It was an enjoyable afternoon. The kids had a great time with the cousins.

Most of our snow is gone, but they still had quite a bit left. We always bring the snow clothes and the kids had fun sledding on Uncle Dave's big hill.

Kathryn and Sally

My sister Sally and her daughter Kathryn where at my parents house visiting last week. It is always so nice to see them. We hadn't seen Kathryn in quite a while.

Christopher

Mom, Dad and Christopher stopped by Sunday morning on their way to the airport. It was a short visit for Chris this time, but it was good to see him. The little cousins sure enjoy having the big cousins around.

Visiting

Friday night we went over to Mom and Dad's for a visit and pizza. My nephew Christopher is here visiting from Ohio and it was tax night.

Tax night is a fun time when some of the family get together and their tax guy comes and does all of the taxes at one time. Brian has been doing our taxes the last few years, but we still enjoy the "party" aspect of this night.

Glenn and his family were there as was Dave and his crew. We were only missing Kathryn and Adam of the 14 grandchildren.

Mom and Dad have a lot more snow at their house and the snow banks are huge. The younger kids had a great time playing outside in the dark.

Bessie and the older girls enjoyed talking about books and music. Christopher got lots of attention from all the cousins.

It was a late night for the kids and it was snowing heavily by the time we headed home. This made for a slow, slippery drive, but we arrived home safely.

Family Photo

Back before Christmas, I posted pictures from our photo shoot for a good Christmas card picture. Well, I didn't post the one we liked the best because I hadn't mailed out the cards yet. Here we are on the 11th of January and said Christmas cards have yet to be sent. My best intentions often go awry. Oh, well!

I have everyone intention of sending out some type of 2007 year in review letter or something, but in the mean time, here is our 2007 Christmas photo.

Enjoy!

Family Celebration

Dad came home late Saturday afternoon. It was so good to have him back home and to have him doing so well.

We got up earlier and went to Mom and Dads and went to church with them on Sunday morning. My youngest brother and my sister were there also. My parents is a wonderful church and they love my folks. There was a standing ovation when they entered the church. It is so heart warming to see such an outpouring of love and concern.

That afternoon, the whole family gathered for a celebration. A celebration of Dad's life and also of our family, the love and closeness we share and the gratitude we feel for Mom and Dad. We also celebrated their birthdays. Dad's was last week and Mom's was this week.

Walt is great with the kids

My youngest brother is a bachelor. Whenever he comes home to visit, he spends lots of time with the kids. The love their Uncle Walt. Mom and Dad had lots of snow and it was a warmer day, so the snow was packy. They began making snow balls and ended up making a snowduck. I didn't get any pictures of the finished product because it was almost dark when they finished, but the kids and Walt had a great time sculpting it

Everyone brought food and goodies. There was lots of eating, talking, laughing and fellowship.

It was a wonderful day and such a joy that we were celebrating with Dad among us. I think this whole experience has made us even more thankful for the terrific Godly parents we have and the close family we enjoy.
